Mindrolling holds special prayer ceremony
Mindrolling Monastery honored and commemorated the
selfless sacrifice of the 90 brave Tibetans who laid down their lives
through self-immolation in Tibet.
On the auspicious full moon day of the 10th Lunar
month of year of the Water Dragon (November 28, 2012), the Mindrolling
Monastery organized a prayer ceremony to commemorate the selfless
sacrifice of the 90 brave Tibetans who laid down their lives through
self-immolation for Tibet’s Freedom and the return of His Holiness the
Dalai Lama to Tibet. The prayer ceremony was presided by H.E. Penam
Rinpoche, H.E. Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche and Ven. Tulku Lhundrub Tengay of
Mindrolling.
Monks offering butter lamp offerings
Mr. Tinlay Jigme, the Tibetan Welfare Officer for the
State of Uttarakhand, also graced the gathering with his presence along
with almost 1500 Tulkus, Khenpos, Monks, Nuns and lay people from
Dondrub Ling Colony in Clement Town and neighboring areas.
The ceremony began with offerings made to the throne
of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, followed by the entire gathering
observing a minute of silence as a mark of respect to all the brave
martyrs of Tibet.
Dedon Tinlay Jigme la addressed the entire gathering
and expressed deep respect for the courageous men and women who have
since 2009 offered their own lives through self-immolation for the
freedom of Tibet. He called on everyone to support their selfless
actions by understanding the lack of human right situation in Tibet and
the need to demand freedom.
The assembly of more than 1500 people recited
numerous prayers, lit candles, circumambulated the Great Stupa, and
offered khatags to the throne of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the
photographs of the brave martyrs of Tibet. Thousands of butter lamps,
candles and flower offerings were made by the monastery and hundreds of
people reciting prayers continued to circumambulate the great
Mindrolling Stupa for Peace through the night dedicating their thoughts
and prayers for the 90 brave Tibetans whose selfless offering for their
country will always be remembered.
