BURMA UPDATE

Dear friend

The election in Burma today will not bring democracy it will keep
dictatorship.

Instead of bringing any new freedom to Burma¹s people, repression is
actually increasing. Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma¹s democracy leader, has now
spent over 15 years in detention and there are over 2,200 political
prisoners.

While you read this the suffering of innocent people continues. Political
prisoners are being tortured, villages are burned and children are dying.
And this won¹t change after today¹s sham elections.

Burma Campaign UK has been working hard to make sure the world knows the
reality of Burma¹s fake elections. We have briefed governments and
politicians around the world, ensuring they don¹t accept the elections. We
have helped behind the scenes with many of the TV and newspaper stories you
will have read and watched on the news today, helping arrange undercover
journalists to report from Burma.

The international community has used this election as an excuse for inaction
and to wait and see what happens.

We need your help to campaign for real change in Burma.  There is now no
more excuse for delay.  We need your help to push for UN-led action to force
Burma¹s dictatorship to enter into dialogue with Aung San Suu Kyi and ethnic
groups.

Every donation you give helps us to work for freedom for Aung San Suu Kyi,
for all Burma¹s political prisoners and to help the people of Burma in their
struggle for freedom.

Please donate just £20 or whatever you feel able to give today here at:

Please make an urgent donation now - we really need your help.

Thank you
Anna
