the fantastic news

Dear friend Söpa Nyima

Today we saw the fantastic news from Burma that Aung San Suu Kyi has been
released.

Of course we are delighted that she is now free but we also need to make
sure that her release is not seen as a sign that democratic reform is on the
way.  We know that the dictatorship will use her release to get positive
publicity after the blatant rigging of elections on 7th November. There are
still more than 2,200 other political prisoners still suffering in Burma¹s
jails.

Campaigning works!
We have seen today how effective campaigning can be but we have a lot more
to do.

The Burma Campaign UK is making a difference, but we are a small
organisation and without support from members of the public our work would
end.

Please help us continue our campaign to free all Burma¹s political prisoners
and make a donation today:

A big thank you to everyone!
