Dear tso pema ling
It's an action-packed week here at SFT HQ! Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is in town and Art for Tibet II is in full swing. We want to invite you to take part in the action.
NEWS FLASH
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived in New York for the opening of the United Nations General Assembly yesterday and was “greeted” by a noisy crowd of Tibetans and their supporters. Two Tibet activists even got in front of his motorcade and waved Tibetan flags and shouted “Free Tibet”.

DIRECT LINE TO WEN JIABAO
On September 8, the People's Daily, a Chinese state-run news outlet, launched an online message board called “Direct Line to Zhongnanhai” (直通中南海) inviting people to submit comments to the Chinese government. The forum claims be an open communication platform to send concerns directly to the Chinese Communist Party's top leadership, but not without some heavy restrictions of course. Not surprisingly, political content is prohibited: read the full list of restrictions.
Given that China's leaders aren’t open to hearing what Tibetans, Uyghurs, Chinese democracy advocates, and human rights activists have to say, SFT has launched our own DIRECT LINE TO WEN JIABAO during his visit to New York.
Send an uncensored message to Premier Wen and we’ll “post” your message in locations he’s expected to visit during his stay in New York.
- Tweet a message to Wen Jiabao @wjbny between 6pm and 9pm EST today (Wednesday, September 22nd).
- Email a short message no longer than 100 characters to protestwen@gmail.com or text to +1-707-836-3677.
- Become a fan of Students for a Free Tibet on Facebook and post your message to the Wall (no longer than 100 characters).

ART FOR TIBET
Last night, Art for Tibet was officially opened in New York. Journalists, artists, activists, and art aficionados attended the opening, which featured a panel discussion with internationally acclaimed Tibetan artist, Rigdol; Tibet scholar, Robbie Barnett; and SFT's very own Executive Director, Tenzin Dorjee: View photos.
Art for Tibet is a celebration of art, culture, and resistance. The exhibit brings together 100+ artists from around the world in an effort to display global solidarity with persecuted Tibetan artists inside Tibet.
Check out this unique event by visiting the online auction. View all the artwork and bid on your favorite pieces. The deadline for online bids is Saturday, September 25 at 5pm EST. All proceeds go to SFT's work for Tibetan freedom.
Thank you for all that you do for Tibet.
